Adidas AG, known simply as Adidas since 1949, is a German company that manufactures athletic clothing and footwear with its headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria. After Nike, it is the second-largest sportswear producer in the world and the biggest in Europe. Adolf Dassler founded the business at his mother's home, and in 1924, he invited his older brother Rudolf to join him. The business was known as the Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik, or "Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory." The corporation reported €21.915 billion in revenue for 2018.

The company has a competitive and innovative history. Dassler contributed to the creation of spiked running shoes for a variety of sports, replacing the old design's hefty metal spikes with ones made of rubber and canvas.
